Handing out cards in Faneuil Hall tonight

There are going to be several people going back to Faneuil Hall in Boston tonight to hand out business cards with Gene's information on them to cab drivers and bar-goers alike. We hope that this effort will help to continue to keep Gene's face in the front of everyones mind, and that hopefully a cab driver will recognize him.
Dedham, MA man found in river

Unfortunately, the body of Greg Hart was found yesterday in a river about 2 miles away from the bar where he went missing. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers, this is a terrible tragedy.
Dedham, MA Man goes missing under similar circumstances

A young man from Dedham went missing over the weekend, in circumstances that are eerily similar to Gene's. 23 year old Greg Hart of Dedham, MA, went out to celebrate a new job Saturday night with friends down in Providence, RI. He stepped out of the bar around 1:40am and hasn't been seen since. Friends have been unable to get in touch with him via cell phone, and his car remains parked at his friends house.

I'm sure all of Gene's friends can empathize with what Greg's family and friends are going through right now. I ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers as well, and that both of these men are found soon and safe. We are working on getting in touch with Greg's family to offer support.

They also put a very nice article online detailing his disappearance, thank you for spreading the word!
Donations Now Being Accepted

We are currently working on getting missing persons ads in the papers and magazines, both local and national. Things start to get a bit expensive as we do more of this, and as such we're asking donations to help continue the search for Gene. Any amount, no matter how small, is GREATLY appreciated and ALL donations will go directly towards funding the search for Gene.

If you have the time and can donate any amount, please click on the "Donate" button at the top of the page.

Thank you all in advance, any little bit helps us continue to search for him!
National News Spotlight

We're working diligently on getting Gene's face on the national news network, if you have any contacts at morning shows, crime shows, or any national news outlets, please email us with contact info.

We're contacted Nancy Grace at CNN, and are awaiting a response. If you get the time please write a post to the Nancy Grace Facebook page we setup so her team has more chance of seeing it. We've also contacted America's Most Wanted, and are working to get his face on morning talk shows.

You'll also likely see ad's for this website and Gene on Facebook and Google, we are doing this to increase exposure to his disappearance. Please click "Like" on the Facebook ad if you see it, it will increase visibility to others on the site.

And thanks to EVERYONE for your continued support and kind words, his family and friends really appreciate it!
Search Updates

The police are still continuing their search for Gene. They are working with the DA to subpeona his bank records to double check that no activity has occured since he went missing. They have looked at cab data from the evening and claim that the cab angle has been ruled out, and they checked with a few cabs that seemed suspect.

We are still working to keep Gene in the news. FOX news in Boston ran a story over the weekend about Gene, and we have been in touch with more non-profits for help. We are also trying to get his face on the national circuit. We have contacted Nancy Grace of CNN, Americas Most Wanted, and are reaching out to morning talk shows as well. If we get any headway on the national track we'll post an update here.
The Search Effort Depends on Us

Unfortunately there haven't been any new updates regarding Gene since the last large scale water search. The police have drastically slowed down their case, as no new leads have popped up on land or at sea, and the media has started to slow in turn.

This is why its up to us to continue the search for Gene, to go around and poster fliers wherever possible. If you're able to get on a radio show, or get a story out to a newspaper, even a local paper, it just further increases the chances that someone will recognize him and he'll turn up.

Gene is out there somewhere, its imperitive that we don't forget about him, and fight to keep him in the news to help bring him home safely. Please continue to do whatever you can, and take peace in knowing that each passing day brings us closer to him being back in our lives.

Extensive Water Search Turns Up Nothing on Day 11

Today was the largest water search performed to date. Participants included BPD, BFD, Coast Guard, State Police, Everett PD, Quincy PD, and civilians leading a search effort that included over 50 divers, search boats, sonar equipment, underwater cameras, and helicopters. The search turned up no trace of Gene or any evidence that he was ever in the water.

This was the last day of such an extensive search, divers will no longer be in the water, and only boats and helicopters will be scanning the harbor for the next few days to see if anything turns up.

This was great news to hear, as it continues to point to Gene not ending up in the water, and leads us to believe that he is on land somewhere. WBZ-TV ran another newscast today with extensive search coverage, keeping his face in the media. We are going to continue to canvas and call area hospitals, and to distribute missing persons flyers.
Search Dogs Continuing their Work

The search dogs will be continuing their work today with the trainer and BPD to try and track down areas Gene may have walked to.

Thank you to WBZ-TV for continuing to keep Gene in the news. They ran a story on him during their newscast last night. It is so important that we continue to keep his face in the media in the hope that someone will recognize him.
Keeping Gene in the News

The lady with the dogs will begin working soon, and as soon as we get updates on leads we'll be letting everyone know.

We have been trying hard to keep Gene's face in the media, and the Eagle Tribune just ran another story on his disappearance. Thank you to everyone who has been putting up flyers all around Boston, if anyone else has time please keep postering and getting the word out about Gene!

The Marriott has also been nice enough to leave the remnants of the Vigil resting outside where we left them, so that also continues to garner attention to the missing persons posters left around the area.
Special Search Dogs Working Tomorrow

A quick update regarding the continued search for Gene. Tomorrow we have a woman coming who trains dogs that specialize in tracking "aged" scents, especially in high traffic areas like cities. The dogs have been used in prior cases, sometimes even months after a person has gone missing, to provide the police with new leads and show them the direction the person went after they were last seen.

We'll continue to provide updates about this aspect of the search tomorrow, keep praying that we hear good news!
Thanks for your help today, and for the website tips!

Thank you to everyone who came out today to help search and give flyers to area hospitals. We had about 30 people go to 45 hospitals to give notice about Gene's disappearance, which was just fantastic. They will be distributing the flyers to their staff and should be cross-checking the name with their patients.

Also, the Boston Police Dept., Fire Dept, Coast Guard, and State Police hit the water today with dive teams and boats. They searched all around Long Wharf and the surrounding area with special sonar equipment. Nothing was found which gives us even more hope that he is on land somewhere. Dive crews might hit the waters one more time next week.

Everything possible is being done to continue the search. THANK YOU to the people who have emailed us with tips and suggestions, especially the non-profits who want to assist. All the kind words and compassion we are getting is great. We are following up with some other search options and leads which we will update on as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks again everyone!

More Contact Methods/Weekend Search

Hello everyone, we are still trying to get any resource we possibly can to help locate Gene. We are working on putting together a forum so that we can get ideas about what else to do in this case. If you have ANY experience or suggestion as to what more we can do with a missing persons case, please let us know! For now you can catch us on Twitter or you can email tips@findgenelosik.com.

Please remember that ANY official leads or tips need to be reported directly to the police, (617) 343-4248, in order for the reward money to be claimed and to ensure they follow the lead promptly! Please don't hesitate to call with any news or information. And again, if you have any suggestions as to how we can further the search, let us know on Twitter, email, or any of the Facebook groups and events that have been setup.

This weekend we will also be organizing another search to happen around the area. We will be following up with more information tomorrow regarding time and place of the search.
Missing Persons Flyer Updated

The missing persons flyer has been updated with the reward information and other special characteristics Gene has (scars, etc).

The divers aren't going out today, but they have been in the water for 3 days in a row, 5 hours per day, on top of the extra Coast Guard boats and divers in the area due to the Yemen LNG tanker coming into town. The fact that none of these groups has spotted a body is great news, and continues to point to Gene being on land somewhere. The divers will hopefully be hitting the water again this weekend, weather dependent.
$10,000 Reward offered for information

A $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the safe return of Gene. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts please contact BPD Detectives at (617) 343-4248. You can also leave an anonymous tip with the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at (800) 494-TIPS.

Help us find Gene Losik!

This page will be updated over the coming days with information regarding the search for Gene Losik - a Boston man, and close personal friend - who went missing early on February 20, 2010. For the time being please see the missing persons flyer that has been distributed around the Boston area he went missing.
Still Nothing Found

Still no sign of Gene, there were divers in the water again yesterday and didn't turn anything up. Later this week we hope to have boats and divers in the water at least one more time to continue searching for him (although I firmly believe he's on land somewhere at this point).

Yesterday time was spent searching the hotel area again, as well as going to some more local hospitals and emergency rooms. We were able to distribute missing persons flyers to emergency homeless shelters around the area in the hope that a resident or staff member will recognize him.

There are still some more possibilities for the search that Caitlin and his family are following up on. I ask that you continue to keep her and his family in your prayers, and continue to hope for his safe return.
Thanks for Coming to the Vigil

I want to thank everyone who came to the vigil last night, it was incredibly inspiring to see that so many people made it there to support Gene on such short notice. We were able to get some more media coverage out of this so that Gene's face will stay in the news longer.

For those who didn't attend last night, there aren't very many new updates. The dive teams didn't find anything in the waters yesterday which gives us great hope that he didn't stumble in. Weather permitting today, they are going to do another dive with some extra equipment just to ensure they didn't miss anything, but the fact that he hasn't been found gives me great hope that he is on land somewhere. Caitlin and his family are still working with BPD on other options for the search.

I know he's out there somewhere, and I just want to continue to ask everyone to pray for Caitlin and his family, but most importantly for his safe return. Thanks everyone, we'll continue to update you all as we get more information.
Vigil Tonight

Thank you all so much for your support and help in spreading the word about Gene's disappearance. The more we keep this in the news the more the authorities will continue to help us find him, and the more chances we have of someone recognizing him.

Tonight at 8:00pm there will be a candlelight vigil for Gene in Christopher Columbus Park next to the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel in Boston so we can all hope for his safe return together. This was the last place Gene was seen the night he went missing.

It would be great to see as many faces as possible this evening to show our love and support for our dear friend, so please bundle up and we hope to see you there at 8:00.
